Whitney Rose has denied that she buys PRISM jewelry from Alibaba, and the available reporting on Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City does not independently establish that any PRISM design was copied. The accusation was raised on the show and then disputed on camera. Calling it “stealing designs” states as fact something the coverage presents only as an allegation. The accurate description is a sourcing and design claim that was challenged and has not been independently resolved.
What the allegation said on the show
The accusation appeared in Season 5, Episode 4. In its October 9, 2024 report on the episode, Bravo says Heather Gay told Whitney that Meredith Marks had said people were talking about PRISM and alleged the business was “white labeling jewelry from China.” Whitney responded that she buys from curated vendors and denied buying her jewelry from Alibaba. Bravo also reports Heather’s view that Meredith did not appear to be the original source of the information.
Whitney’s on-air denial is the clearest statement of her position from that period: “There is a social media account that is accusing me of buying my jewelry from Alibaba, and that is not true.”
A Reality Tea piece, published October 11, 2024 and hosted on Yahoo Entertainment, expanded on the matching photos circulating online. Its examples included a gold zodiac necklace listed at $49 on PRISM and $3 on Alibaba, along with other necklaces. Those prices are the figures that article reported at the time. They are not independently verified current prices, and the article does not establish that the matching listings showed the same physical product.

Whitney’s explanation at the reunion
The allegation returned at the Season 5 reunion. A Yahoo Entertainment report published January 23, 2025 describes Whitney’s account of an image that had appeared on PRISM’s website. She said a PRISM vendor supplied the image as a temporary placeholder, that it stayed up for about 48 hours, and that it was replaced after the Vancouver photoshoot. Her words, as quoted in that report, were: “That photo was there for about 48 hours as a placeholder … that was sent from our vendor — it’s not Alibaba.” She added: “I do not source from Alibaba.”
That is Whitney’s account, not independent evidence. The reporting does not name the vendor, does not include a record of the website’s image history, and does not confirm where the placeholder photo came from. The 48-hour figure is her description of her own site, as quoted in coverage.

Why the price comparison does not settle the question
Viewers and commentators tend to merge four separate questions into one. The reporting supports some of them only partly and none of them fully:
| Question | What the reporting shows | What remains unverified |
|---|---|---|
| Do the listings look alike? | Reality Tea (October 11, 2024) describes matching photos being discussed on the show. | No side-by-side product comparison is reported, and the matching listings are not shown to be the same physical item. |
| Is a design copied? | The accusation was made on the show and repeated in entertainment coverage. | No design files, sourcing records or independent expert comparison are reported. |
| Who made the jewelry? | Whitney says she buys from curated vendors and that a PRISM vendor supplied the placeholder image. | The vendor is not named, and no supplier confirmation appears in the coverage. |
| What does it retail for? | Reality Tea reported a gold zodiac necklace at $49 on PRISM and $3 on Alibaba in October 2024. | These are one article’s reported prices from that date, not verified current prices, and not evidence of any particular product’s origin. |
A price gap between two listings, even when the listings look alike, does not show which company designed the item, who manufactured it, or whether the design was taken from someone else.

Who started the rumor is a separate question
The dispute over the rumor’s origin is distinct from the sourcing allegation. In a November 2024 Watch What Happens Live highlight, Bravo reports Whitney disagreeing with her podcaster friend about whether he had told her that Lisa Barlow was behind the chatter. That exchange shows the disagreement existed. It does not establish that Lisa Barlow started the rumor, and nothing in the coverage establishes who first spread the sourcing allegation.
