Season 3 is titled What If…Agatha Went to Hollywood? on Disney+. Its official listing places Agatha Harkness among Hollywood film stars, working alongside a new co-star in Howard Stark’s first production. The listing does not describe how the Eternals return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this episode, so this review cannot confirm that storyline from the listing alone. What follows covers the premise, the release details, and how critics have responded.

The Hollywood premise
The episode’s appeal rests on a simple inversion. Agatha, a character defined by witchcraft and a long history of manipulation, is presented as a film star working on a studio production. The Disney+ listing ties her to Howard Stark’s first production, which gives the episode a period-flavored studio setting rather than a standard magical battleground. That setup is the most concrete thing the platform describes.

Disney+ also presents the series as returning for a culminating adventure through the multiverse, with the Watcher guiding viewers through new genres, spectacles and characters. That is platform marketing language, so treat it as the streamer’s framing rather than a description of this episode’s content.
What the official listing does not say about the Eternals
The title promises an Eternals return, but the Disney+ synopsis does not describe the Eternals’ role in the story. Any detailed account of how they reappear, who brings them in, or how their plot connects to Agatha’s Hollywood arc has to come from watching the episode itself. When you watch, check the following:

- Whether the Eternals appear on screen or are only referred to in dialogue.
- Which character or event brings the Eternals into the episode, and whether that link is set up early or arrives late.
- Whether the Eternals storyline is woven into Agatha’s Hollywood plot or runs as a separate thread.
- How the ending treats the crossover, and whether it resolves the connection or leaves it open for later episodes.
Reviews that answer the Eternals question in detail should cite the episode’s own dialogue or scenes, not the listing copy.
Critical response in the captured sample
Rotten Tomatoes showed an 80% Tomatometer for the episode, based on five critic reviews, as captured in 2026. That is a small, dated sample. It is not a consensus of critics, and it is not an audience score. The two named reviews below point in opposite directions.
Rank #2
| Critic | Outlet | Score | Quoted line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Joshua M. Patton | CBR | 8/10 | “The story is rewarding and fun — if only because fans get a little more time with Agatha.” |
| Jeffrey Lyles | Lyles’ Movie Files | 3/10 | “What If…Agatha Went to Hollywood? is not going to be the episode to convince any MCU naysayers that things are turning around for the suddenly inconsistent brand.” |
Both reviews are opinions. Patton’s praise centers on the pleasure of spending more time with Agatha, while Lyles reads the episode as a test of the franchise’s broader standing. Neither line settles whether the episode works on its own terms.
How to judge the episode for yourself
- The Hollywood premise: Does a studio-set story give Agatha’s character something new to do, or does it mostly change the scenery?
- Agatha’s characterization and humor: Do her jokes and reactions feel rooted in who she is, or do they depend on the setting?
- The crossover: Does the episode clearly connect the magic side of the MCU with the cosmic side, and does the Eternals connection feel earned?
- Spectacle: Does the animation’s scale serve the story, or does it fill time?
Where the evidence leaves the verdict
On the evidence available, the episode’s premise is distinctive and its reception is split. The clearest case for it is the enjoyment of extra time with Agatha, and the clearest case against it is the view that it does little to reassure skeptical viewers about the franchise. The Eternals question is the one this listing cannot answer. If you want to know how the Eternals return, watch the episode and judge the crossover against the checklist above.
