What happens in Moody’s lesson?
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Professor Moody teaches the class about the Unforgivable Curses and demonstrates them on spiders. When Neville identifies the Cruciatus Curse, Moody uses it on a spider, which writhes under the curse. The official Wizarding World account of Neville Longbottom describes him as shaken by the lesson and connects his reaction to his tragic past involving the curses.
What is the Cruciatus Curse?
The Cruciatus Curse, also called Crucio, is one of the three Unforgivable Curses. Wizarding World’s Unforgivable Curses fact file describes it as a curse used to torture witches, wizards, and Muggles.
Does the scene appear in the film?
The classroom demonstration appears in the novel, and screenplay or transcript results also place it in the film adaptation. The book is the primary source for the novel’s scene; screenplay and transcript material provides secondary support for its appearance in the adaptation.
