They stayed engaged through repeated wedding delays and a long-distance relationship, and in July 2021 Nicole announced that they had decided to go separate ways. She said they ended on good terms. Public reporting does not establish one definitive private reason for the split, and the details below separate what is documented from what is still rumor.
How the couple met and got on television
Nicole and Azan met through a dating app and became a couple who were featured on 90 Day Fiancé. Us Weekly reported their appearance on season 4 of the series in 2016. The show follows couples who have a limited window to marry after one partner moves to the United States on a fiancé visa, so their storyline was built around a deadline from the start.

The engagement that never reached the altar
The main obstacles reported during the relationship were logistical rather than a single dramatic event:
- Two postponed weddings. Coverage describes the couple delaying their wedding twice.
- A denied K-1 visa. Azan’s K-1 fiancé visa application was denied, which meant the couple could not simply live in the same country while planning.
- Living in separate countries. They tried to keep the relationship going across distance, which added strain on top of the usual pressure of the show.
- Conflict on camera. Disagreements shown during the series are part of how the public came to see the relationship as troubled.
Even with these problems, the couple was still publicly engaged as late as October 2020, when a later Us Weekly status update reported that Nicole said they were still engaged. That is useful context: speculation about a breakup was already circulating before the split was announced.

The breakup announcement
On July 12, 2021, Us Weekly published Nicole’s statement that the couple had decided to go separate ways. Her words, as quoted by the magazine, were:
- “Azan and I have decided to go our separate ways.”
- They had “much love and respect for each other,” but both had faults.
- They could no longer continue the relationship.
- “We ended on good terms and I wish him the best.”
That statement is the clearest public confirmation of the outcome. It does not explain in detail what led to the decision, and it does not describe any specific event that triggered it.
What is established, and what is not
The documented facts are straightforward: the couple met on a dating app, appeared on 90 Day Fiancé, remained engaged for years without marrying, faced a postponed wedding and a visa denial, and separated in 2021 with Nicole’s announcement. A November 2023 retrospective by NJ.com also states that they never married and dates the split to 2021.
Several popular claims are not supported by the reporting available. Coverage does not establish that either partner was using the other, that money or immigration status was the real motive, or that the couple had secret marriages or children. Those claims circulate online without documentation and should be treated as speculation.
Rank #2
Azan’s life after the show is also not well documented. The NJ.com retrospective said his later activities were unclear to the publication, which is a statement about what the publication could find, not a finding about his private life. Readers looking for a current update on him will not find a verified one in the reporting that exists.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are they still together?
No. Nicole announced the separation in July 2021, and the most recent coverage available, from November 2023, reports that they never married. Nothing in the reporting suggests a reunion.
Why the ending matters to the show’s format
The couple’s story illustrates a pattern viewers see often in 90 Day Fiancé: a relationship that depends on visa timing, travel and the production schedule can stall even when both partners say they still care. Nicole’s framing, that they had love and respect but could no longer continue, reflects that kind of outcome more than a single scandal. Readers who want to understand the show’s broader dynamics can use this case as an example of how much logistics can shape a televised romance.
The clearest answer remains the simplest one. The couple split in 2021 after years of engagement, Nicole said they parted on good terms, and the public record does not supply a definitive private cause.
