In a 2025 article, Women.com quotes Spears’s 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, as saying: “My real hair color is black.” The same passage quotes her saying, “I’m not offended by all the dumb blond jokes because I know I’m not dumb. Photographs and salon commentary provide a different description from Spears’s reported wording.
