Brake Free, the maker of a helmet-mounted LED brake light, received an on-air offer on Shark Tank Season 12, Episode 8: $200,000 for 20% equity from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. According to co-founder and CEO Alex Arkhangelskiy, speaking in a 2025 interview reported by BGR in 2026, the deal never closed. The company is still operating and still sells its product through its own website.
What the Sharks offered on air
ABC’s episode page lists Brake Free among the businesses featured in Season 12, Episode 8 and describes it as “an ultra-bright and smart LED brake light accessory for motorcycle helmets.” The offer was made on camera: Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec proposed $200,000 for 20% of the company. An on-air offer is not the same as money changing hands, and the sections below explain why the difference matters for this company.
Why the deal did not close
The clearest account of the outcome comes from a 2025 interview with Motorcycle & Powersports News, which BGR summarized in 2026. In that interview, Arkhangelskiy said the deal never closed and speculated that the pandemic may have been a factor. Because this is a paraphrase of a founder’s account rather than a direct quote, it should be attributed to him and not presented as a verbatim statement.
The company’s own post about that interview confirms it covered Arkhangelskiy’s Shark Tank experience, but the post itself does not state whether the deal fell through. That gap is worth noting: the closure claim rests on the founder’s account as reported by BGR, and the sources cited here do not describe any later investment from another party.

Fit is the point where a buyer should be most careful. Check the manufacturer’s fit guidance against your own helmet model before ordering, rather than relying on a general statement that it fits most helmets.

Several figures about the company’s growth have circulated. They come from different sources, cover different periods, and carry different weight, so they should not be merged into a single picture of the business.

The 60,000-rider figure describes how many people the company says it has reached. It does not measure whether riders are safer, and it should not be converted into a rate of crash prevention.
Is the company still operating?
Yes, based on the most recent evidence available. The official website is actively selling the USB-C models, and the company published a 2025 post inviting motorcycle dealerships and powersports retailers to contact it about carrying the product. That post describes Arkhangelskiy discussing how dealerships can get involved. No retail partner terms, commission structure or formal dealer program are published in the sources cited here, so a dealership considering the product would need to contact the company directly.

Where to buy and what to check first
- Start with the official site. It lists the current variants and price and is the most direct source for a current order.
- Amazon availability is unconfirmed. A 2026 BGR report says the product was available on Amazon. The sources cited here do not establish a current live listing, the exact variant on offer, or the seller’s current terms, so check the marketplace directly before buying.
- Additional mounts for multiple helmets. BGR’s 2026 report mentions extra mounts for riders who own more than one helmet. Confirm that the accessory is currently offered and compatible with your helmet before purchase.
- Price changes. The $159.99 figure was the listed price on October 8, 2026. Verify it at the point of purchase.
What remains open
Three questions are not answered by the available sources: whether any investor has come in since the Shark Tank offer, whether the company has published audited financial statements, and whether there is independent evidence about the product’s effect on rider safety. Until those are addressed, the reliable picture is a company that received an on-air offer that did not close, that continues to sell a helmet brake light, and that reports sales and reach figures it has not had independently verified.
