Elvis Presley’s two best-known private aircraft, the Convair 880 Lisa Marie and Lockheed JetStar Hound Dog II, are preserved at Graceland in Memphis. The broader group of aircraft associated with Elvis was larger, but available sources do not establish where every other plane ended up.
Where are Elvis Presley’s planes now?
The Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II are displayed at Graceland. The estate says the planes have been available for visitors to tour since 1984. In April 2015, Graceland announced that an agreement had been reached for both aircraft to remain there permanently: Graceland’s announcement.
What happened to the Lisa Marie?
Elvis bought the Convair 880 in April 1975 and named it after his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. After its renovation, he first flew in it in November 1975, according to Graceland’s Elvis timeline.
The aircraft had living, conference, sitting and bedroom spaces. Graceland says Elvis spent more than $800,000 remodeling it; the amount is Graceland’s figure, and its airplane page does not state a publication date. Graceland’s airplane page describes the plane and its interior.

After Elvis died in August 1977, the plane’s captain flew it to California to bring Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie Presley and George Hamilton to Memphis for the funeral. The family later sold the aircraft. After passing through other hands, it returned to Graceland in 1984. This history is recounted by GE Aerospace.
What was Hound Dog II used for?
Hound Dog II was a smaller Lockheed JetStar. Graceland says it was used primarily to transport Elvis’s manager and staff between cities during concert tours. Unlike the Lisa Marie, it was not the large, customized living space among the pair. Visitors can view the JetStar at Graceland; the estate’s airplane information describes what is on display.

Were these Elvis’s only aircraft?
No. The two preserved planes are the most visible today, but GE Aerospace’s historical account also associates Elvis with a JetStar, Arrow Jet Commander, Dassault-Falcon, Fairchild F-27 and Gulfstream G-1. The available accounts do not trace the later disposition of each aircraft, so it would be inaccurate to say that all of them are at Graceland or to present the two displayed planes as a complete inventory of every aircraft he used.
