Spoilers for season 1, episode 2, “Moon.” Moon survives: her apparent injury and death are staged so she can escape. Wreck’s attack, however, stops being part of the plan when he realizes the person posing as Nice is Lin Ling, not his friend.
Why Moon and Lin Ling make a plan
In “Moon,” Moon discovers that the person living publicly as Nice is Lin Ling, who took the identity after the real Nice died. Moon also tells Lin Ling that her romance with the real Nice was fabricated and that she wants out of the contract tied to it. The episode originally aired on April 13, 2025, according to its episode listing: episode synopsis and listing.
Miss J’s plan is to marry Moon and Nice in public. Lin Ling instead proposes staging Moon’s death as a way to free her. The plan calls for Wreck—the supposed nemesis assigned to Nice—to attack during a staged proposal.
Why Wreck’s attack turns real
Wreck recognizes that Lin Ling is not the Nice he knew. Their rivalry had been assigned roles, but Wreck and the real Nice were genuine friends. After learning that Nice died by suicide, Wreck attacks Lin Ling in anger. Lin Ling fights back, and Wreck falls from the battle structure. The episode synopsis describes the fall as fatal; it does not establish further details about what happens to his body or whether he survives beyond that account: episode synopsis.

Did Moon die?
No. Moon’s injury is faked, and after saying goodbye to Lin Ling, she teleports away. Her apparent death is the cover for her escape, not the outcome of Wreck’s real confrontation: episode synopsis.

The plan depends on a public story: Moon and Nice’s romance, and Nice and Wreck’s rivalry. But Wreck’s recognition of Lin Ling exposes the difference between those manufactured roles and his actual friendship with the real Nice. Meanwhile, Moon uses the staged spectacle to get away from the identity and contract imposed on her. That contrast is an interpretation of the episode’s events, not a stated production explanation.
