How the cast’s paths diverged after the series
Leave It to Beaver followed the Cleaver family through 234 episodes, according to Jerry Mathers’s official biography; that figure is attributed to his site rather than an independently verified episode archive. The central family was played by Mathers, Tony Dow, Barbara Billingsley and Hugh Beaumont. Their later careers were not alike: some returned to the characters, others worked behind the camera or outside entertainment.

The Cleaver family
Jerry Mathers (Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver)
Mathers reprised Beaver in the reunion film Still the Beaver and the follow-up series The New Leave It to Beaver. His official biography also records a 2007 Broadway debut in Hairspray and names his memoir, And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver. His official biography gives an overview of his work after the original series.
Tony Dow (Wally Cleaver)
Dow continued acting before moving into television directing. The Television Academy lists directing credits on The New Leave It to Beaver, Babylon 5 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The Television Academy’s profile documents his directing work. PBS reported that Dow died in 2022.

Barbara Billingsley (June Cleaver)
Billingsley returned as June in Still the Beaver and later appeared in the comedy Airplane!. She died in 2010 at age 94, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Hugh Beaumont (Ward Cleaver)
Beaumont continued acting in television after the original show. The Kansas Historical Society says a stroke in 1972 preceded the end of that work. He died in 1982, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Other familiar cast members
Ken Osmond (Eddie Haskell)
After acting, Osmond became a Los Angeles police officer. AARP describes that career change, and PBS reported that he died in 2020.
Frank Bank and Stephen Talbot
Bank, who played Clarence “Lumpy” Rutherford, later worked as an investment adviser, while Talbot, who played Gilbert Bates, became a PBS documentary filmmaker, according to AARP. Those are selected later-career details, not complete biographies.

What reunion productions brought back
