His father, Donald Trump, said the family considered the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School but chose Stern.
What college did Barron Trump choose?
Donald Trump confirmed the choice in September 2024: Barron was enrolled at NYU Stern. Axios reported the confirmation and quoted Donald Trump saying, “We went for Stern.” Axios reported the announcement on September 4, 2024.
The confirmation came before Barron’s freshman year began that fall. A contemporaneous Cornell Daily Sun report, updated September 8, 2024, also noted that Donald Trump had confirmed Barron was a Stern student.
Was Wharton another option?
Donald Trump said the family considered the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied, but did not choose it. In the interview cited by Axios, he said, “I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that. … We went for Stern.” The confirmed choice was NYU Stern; Wharton was an alternative under consideration, not a second enrollment.

What is known about Barron’s later campus?
Associated Press profiles in January and May 2025 described Barron as a freshman and NYU business student. In September 2025, The Daily Beast reported that he had reportedly moved his studies to NYU’s Washington, D.C. campus, citing other media reports and a campus security officer. That article said it had sought comment from NYU and the Trump offices; it did not provide an official confirmation of the move. The reviewed reporting does not establish Barron’s current campus or enrollment status as of October 8, 2026.
Did Barron Trump apply to Harvard?
In May 2025, the Associated Press reported that Nicholas Clemens, a spokesperson for Melania Trump, said Barron did not apply to Harvard. AP quoted Clemens: “Barron did not apply to Harvard, and any assertion that he, or that anyone on his behalf, applied is completely false.” That statement is a denial from the spokesperson, not evidence of an application.
