Weezer bassist Scott Shriner said his wife, author Jillian Lauren, was “all right” after she was wounded by Los Angeles police in Eagle Rock on April 8, 2025. Speaking to a TMZ reporter on April 10, he said, “She’s all right. Thank you for asking.”
The shooting happened during an unrelated search for people who had fled a hit-and-run. Lauren was not one of those suspects, according to the Associated Press. Early police statements described allegations and an investigation, not final findings.
What Scott Shriner said about his wife
Shriner’s update was brief. When asked about Lauren, he told the TMZ reporter, “She’s all right. Thank you for asking.” He did not offer a detailed account of her condition or publicly assess the shooting.
Asked whether he was upset about how police handled the incident, Shriner replied, “I can’t comment on that.” He then said, “See you at Coachella!” TMZ’s April 10, 2025, interview is the source of his comments.

What happened in Eagle Rock
On April 8, 2025, Los Angeles Police Department officers assisting the California Highway Patrol searched Eagle Rock for three people who had fled a hit-and-run. The Associated Press reported that Lauren was not among the hit-and-run suspects. Officers encountered her at a neighboring residence with a handgun.
According to the police account reported by AP, officers ordered Lauren to put the gun down and fired when she did not. She was struck, went back inside, and was later taken into custody and to a hospital. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening. AP’s April 10 report provides the account and the status of the investigation at that time.

What investigators said about the shooting
At the time of AP’s April 10 report, Lauren had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on $1 million bond. Police said prosecutors had not yet made an immediate decision on charges. Those were early procedural developments, not a final legal determination.
LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar told reporters that “it was not clear from evidence including police body cameras whether Lauren fired the gun.” The distinction matters: the arrest allegation did not establish that she fired, and investigators had not resolved that question in the account AP published on April 10.

What later-released footage showed—and did not establish
On April 26, AP reported that LAPD had released excerpts from body-camera recordings, surveillance video, and 911 dispatch audio. AP’s account describes officers shouting over helicopter noise and surveillance footage showing Lauren leaving the home with a pistol. The report covers excerpts, not a complete recording of every part of the encounter.
Later reports said prosecutors filed two felony gun charges and that Lauren pleaded not guilty. In September 2025, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge found her eligible for a mental-health diversion program. A December 3, 2025, report said Lauren had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. These are later developments, distinct from Shriner’s April 10 statement; the available reporting cited here does not establish the ultimate outcome of either proceeding as of October 8, 2026. AP’s April 26 account of the released footage, along with later coverage of Lauren’s case and the divorce filing, describe those developments.

Who is Jillian Lauren?
Lauren is an author whose books include the memoir Some Girls: My Life in a Harem (2010) and Everything You Ever Wanted (2015), as noted in AP’s report. Shriner is the Weezer bassist; AP reported no indication that he was involved in the police encounter.
