Germain Lussier’s April 25, 2023, report from CinemaCon describes a 14-minute preview built around Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy reconnecting. The excerpt pairs city-swinging action with quieter scenes about friendship, family, and the pressures each character carries.
What was the 14-minute CinemaCon preview?
The footage was shown during Sony Pictures’ CinemaCon 2023 presentation. Lussier described it as essentially the film’s second scene, rather than a standalone trailer or a complete account of the movie. His report captures the excerpt as screened at the event; it does not reproduce every moment or establish that the preview represents the full film.
The source for the scene-by-scene account is Germain Lussier’s Gizmodo report, published April 25, 2023.
What happens in the footage?
Miles and Gwen catch up
Miles is grounded in his room when Gwen visits. The two reconnect and swing through New York while talking about other Spider-people. Their movement through the city supplies the action, while their conversation makes the scene a reunion between friends rather than just a showcase of superhero spectacle.

Personal worries surface
The report describes details in Miles’s room, including a collectible action figure and drawings he has made of Gwen. Their conversation turns to Gwen’s concerns about her father and the friend Peter she lost, as well as Miles’s feelings about his parents. The excerpt moves between those personal concerns and the larger Spider-person world without making the relationships feel incidental.
A family barbecue shifts the focus
The preview also reaches a family barbecue, where Gwen meets Miles’s parents. The scene brings the superhero friendship into Miles’s home life and underscores how closely his family ties remain bound up with his experience.

One line from the scene, quoted in the report, comes from Miles’s mother: “Promise to take care of that little boy for me.”
Why does the report call the minutes beautiful?
“Beautiful” is the Gizmodo headline’s judgment, not a measurable description. The reported footage offers reasons a viewer might share that response: a reunion threaded through energetic city movement, small visual details in Miles’s room, and scenes that give his family and Gwen’s worries room alongside the action. The preview’s appeal, as described, comes from the contrast between spectacle and emotional intimacy.
