The first trailer for It Ends With Us introduces Blake Lively as Lily Bloom and Justin Baldoni as Ryle Kincaid, whose attraction begins as Lily pursues her dream of opening a flower shop in Boston. But the romance is complicated by the return of Atlas Corrigan, Lily’s first love, and by troubling patterns Lily recognizes from her parents’ relationship.
What happens in the trailer?
In its May 17, 2024 trailer report, PhilSTAR Life described the two-minute preview as opening with Lily launching her flower shop and meeting Ryle, a neurosurgeon. The trailer’s narration includes the line, “Fifteen seconds—that’s all it takes to completely change everything,” as transcribed in the publication’s report.
The preview presents Lily and Ryle’s initial attraction, then hints that their relationship will become more difficult. When Atlas returns, Lily’s past and present collide. The story is not simply a carefree love story: Lily’s relationship with Ryle brings her face to face with patterns she has seen in her parents’ relationship.
Who is in the film?
- Blake Lively plays Lily Bloom.
- Justin Baldoni plays Ryle Kincaid and directed the film.
- Brandon Sklenar plays Atlas Corrigan, Lily’s first love.
- Jenny Slate and Hasan Minhaj are also among the named cast. GMA’s coverage identifies Isabela Ferrer as young Lily and Alex Neustaedter as young Atlas.
How the film adapts Colleen Hoover’s novel
It Ends With Us adapts Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name. Lily moves to Boston to build a flower-shop business, meets Ryle, and reconnects with Atlas. The film’s central conflict links Lily’s adult relationship to painful echoes of her parents’ relationship.

In an interview published August 9, 2024, Baldoni told Good Morning America that the film used “recovered memories as the narrative backbone,” which he described as a departure from the book. He also said the production partnered with No More, a foundation dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence, and worked with intimacy and stunt coordinators. Speaking about the approach to the relationship’s portrayal, Baldoni said: “They were my mentors and my friends and my partners in making sure that every step of the way, we were thoughtful and intentional with the way that anything that resembled domestic violence, or even just the storyline of [Lily and Ryle’s] relationship, was portrayed.” These are Baldoni’s descriptions of the production process and adaptation choices.
Trailer music and release context
PhilSTAR Life identified Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” as the trailer’s soundtrack. Its May 2024 report said the film was scheduled to open in Philippine cinemas on August 7, 2024; that was a then-upcoming local release date, not confirmation of current screenings or streaming availability.
