Andrade and Los Garza’s Humberto and Angel were named in an August 1, 2025 report as WWE wrestlers said to be backing Alberto Del Rio’s possible return. That was an anonymous-source report about support among some wrestlers—not a public campaign or confirmation that WWE planned to bring him back.
Who was reportedly backing Alberto Del Rio?
Del Rio, who performed as Alberto Del Rio in WWE and is also known as Alberto El Patron, was the subject of an August 1, 2025 report by Cultaholic. Citing sources close to the situation, the report named Andrade and Los Garza members Humberto and Angel as among those said to support his use in WWE. It also referred more broadly to other Mexican WWE roster members and AAA talent.
The report did not cite public statements from Andrade, Humberto, or Angel. Its claim is therefore best understood as backstage reporting attributed to unnamed sources, not a confirmed effort by those wrestlers to persuade WWE on the record. Cultaholic’s August 1 report is the source for the named wrestlers.
Does that mean WWE is bringing him back?
No confirmed return or official WWE booking decision is established by the available reports. In fact, Cultaholic’s August 1 follow-up said sources indicated WWE had no interest in using Del Rio and regarded a return as highly unlikely. The same outlet’s July 31 story described an internal push but also noted contrary reports that WWE had no plans to use him.

Those accounts can coexist: some people may have supported a return while the company, according to separate anonymous-source reporting, had no plan to book one. Neither report is an official WWE announcement. The exact-title article published by Yardbarker was a syndication of a Sportster story, not independent confirmation of the underlying claim.
What was the reported WWE contract for?
The 2025 coverage described a WWE contract signed in May as connected to Del Rio’s AAA commitments, following WWE’s announced plan to acquire AAA. That reported arrangement should not be mistaken for a confirmed main-roster return or a new WWE booking plan.

The reports also described Del Rio losing an AAA title to El Hijo del Vikingo and later losing a storyline match to El Mesias that required him to leave AAA. Those were reported story developments, not proof of his present employment or booking status.
What is known about the timing?
- 2016: Cultaholic’s July 31 and August 1, 2025 reports said Del Rio last wrestled for WWE in 2016.
- May 2025: Cultaholic reported a WWE contract tied to his AAA commitments; the reporting did not establish a main-roster return.
- July 31, 2025: Cultaholic reported that people within WWE were pushing for a main-roster return, while also describing contrary reports of no plans. The story quoted Dave Meltzer’s account that there were people pushing for it, but he did not expect a main-roster return.
- August 1, 2025: Cultaholic named Andrade, Humberto, and Angel among those reportedly supporting his use, then reported that sources said WWE had no interest in using him.
The relevant articles are Cultaholic’s August 1 report and its July 31 report. Both rely on unnamed sources for the backstage claims, so they describe reported views at that time—not a current, formal WWE decision.

Why is the potential return controversial?
The August 1 coverage summarized Del Rio’s legal history by reporting that he was charged in 2020 with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault, and that the charges were later dismissed after a witness did not appear. Being charged is not the same as being convicted; the report says the charges were dismissed.
