If the headline refers to JD McDonagh, the update was posted on January 28, 2025: he said he had broken ribs and a punctured lung and expected to be out for a couple of months. That is a dated injury report, not confirmation of his current health or wrestling status. The headline alone does not identify its subject, so the date matters.
What happened to JD McDonagh on RAW?
On January 27, 2025, McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio challenged the War Raiders for the World Tag Team titles on RAW. Sports Illustrated reported that McDonagh attempted a springboard moonsault toward Ivar at ringside, then carried backward into the commentary desk and struck it neck-first. Medical personnel checked on him during a commercial break, but he finished the match, according to Sports Illustrated and SEScoops.
Sports Illustrated reported that McDonagh was taken to hospital after the show. Although the impact appeared to involve his neck, McDonagh’s next-day update identified his ribs and lung as the injuries.
What did McDonagh say about his injuries?
In a statement on X reproduced by Sports Illustrated on January 28, 2025, McDonagh wrote: “First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I’m good. I’ve got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I’m going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I’m grateful for that. See ya in a bit.”

That was his prognosis at the time. It does not establish how long he was ultimately out, whether he has had any later health issues, or what his current status is. SEScoops also reported that Chad Gable reacted on X, writing, “JD McDonagh is remarkable.”
Could the headline refer to a different RAW incident?
Yes. The headline does not include a name or date, and a separate RAW head-impact incident was reported on April 7, 2026. F4W Online reported that Stephanie Vaquer attacked Liv Morgan, Morgan collided head-to-head with Roxanne Perez, and Vaquer then sent Morgan into a television monitor. F4W said Morgan and Perez were reportedly in concussion protocol. That is a different incident from McDonagh’s January 2025 match.

Accordingly, McDonagh is a plausible match for the older former-champion injury story, but the headline by itself does not prove that he is the subject. Check the originating article’s date and wrestler name before treating the two reports as the same story.
