“Eduardo from Facebook” is Eduardo Saverin, one of the company’s co-founders. His relationship with Facebook became contentious as the company grew, and his dispute with the company ended in a settlement. He is no longer part of Facebook’s operating leadership, but Meta’s official history still identifies him as a co-founder.
How Eduardo Saverin became part of Facebook
Meta’s company history dates Facebook’s launch to February 4, 2004, and names Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes, and Eduardo Saverin as co-founders. Meta’s company history is the official source for that identification.
What happened between Saverin and Facebook?
During Facebook’s early growth, Saverin’s role and ownership became disputed. Secondary accounts report that he sued the company and that the dispute was settled. The settlement was not a trial verdict establishing every contested version of events, and its terms were not made public in the sources available here.
A 2011 Mashable retrospective recounts the dispute, but its stake estimates should not be treated as a verified current ownership percentage. The settlement payout, retained share count, and contractual terms are not established by the cited material.

Is Eduardo Saverin still a Facebook co-founder?
Yes. Meta’s public company history continues to list Saverin as a co-founder. That historical recognition is distinct from an operating role: he is no longer part of Facebook’s leadership. The company’s history page supports the co-founder identification, not a claim about his current ownership percentage.
Where is Eduardo Saverin now?
A 2023 South China Morning Post profile reported that Saverin was based in Singapore and remained an investor. Those are details reported by that publication in 2023, not a primary confirmation of his circumstances in 2026. The evidence cited here does not establish a precise current net worth or shareholding.

How Saverin’s dispute differs from the ConnectU lawsuits
Another strand of Facebook’s origin story involves ConnectU’s founders, who brought separate legal cases against Zuckerberg and Facebook. A University of Washington School of Law discussion describes those cases as ending in settlement rather than a trial verdict. That litigation is not the same as Saverin’s dispute, and it does not decide the terms or merits of his separate settlement.
This distinction matters when interpreting dramatized accounts such as The Social Network: a film can depict the founding disputes, but it is not a legal record. A settlement should not be described as a court’s definitive finding about who created Facebook or as proof of every allegation made during the disputes.
