A Learjet 35A ran off the runway while landing at Scottsdale Airport on February 10, 2025, and struck a parked Gulfstream G200. The NTSB reports that the Learjet’s captain died; its first officer and one passenger were seriously injured, another passenger had minor injuries, and an occupant of the parked aircraft was seriously injured. The NTSB case page does not identify Vince Neil as an occupant, so the celebrity association in the headline should not be taken as confirmation that he was aboard.
What happened at Scottsdale Airport?
The accident occurred during landing at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona. The Learjet left the runway and collided with a parked Gulfstream G200. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) identifies the Learjet as a Gates Learjet 35A, registration N81VN, operated as a Part 91 corporate flight. NTSB investigation WPR25FA088
Casualties reported by the NTSB
- The Learjet captain died.
- The first officer and one passenger aboard the Learjet were seriously injured.
- A second Learjet passenger had minor injuries.
- An occupant of the parked Gulfstream was seriously injured.
Was Vince Neil aboard the plane?
The NTSB case page identifies the aircraft and reported injuries but does not identify Vince Neil as an occupant. The official information cited here therefore does not establish that he was on the flight. It also does not establish the ownership relationship implied by calling the aircraft his private plane; that attribution requires a separate reliable source.
What has the NTSB said about the possible mechanical issue?
In October 2025, the NTSB issued an urgent recommendation concerning a main landing-gear attachment issue and a separate recommendation to improve maintenance verification. The agency said its continuing investigation identified the potential for incorrectly attached main landing gear to separate during landing. It recommended that the FAA require operators and owners of affected Learjet models to comply with specified Bombardier service bulletins, and that Bombardier revise maintenance procedures to verify the position of the aft trunnion pin and retaining bolt after relevant maintenance. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The NTSB said this misassembly may not be readily detectable during routine maintenance or a preflight inspection. In its October 29, 2025 release, the agency explained: “In the absence of a required verification step, a mechanic could inadvertently install the retaining bolt without it passing through the trunnion pin, leaving the gear insecurely attached to the airframe.”
Why the recommendation matters beyond this flight
The NTSB reported three prior Learjet events in which landing gear disconnected because a retaining bolt was not engaged through an aft trunnion pin. The agency said its proposed urgent recommendation would affect 10 Learjet models and 1,883 aircraft then in service. Those figures describe the scope cited by the NTSB in 2025, not a current fleet count. NTSB release, October 29, 2025

Has the cause of the crash been determined?
No final probable-cause finding is established in the cited materials. The NTSB lists WPR25FA088 as an ongoing investigation; its October 2025 recommendations are interim safety actions arising from the continuing investigation, not a final determination that a landing-gear failure caused this accident. The agency’s investigation page is the appropriate source for later updates. NTSB investigation WPR25FA088
