Netflix’s Devil May Cry Season 2 trailer sets up a clash between Dante and his estranged twin, Vergil, against the backdrop of a war between the human and demon worlds. The trailer announced a May 12, 2026 release date; Netflix now lists the animated series with two seasons.
What happens in the Season 2 trailer?
Netflix frames the season around Dante and Vergil on opposing sides: its trailer description reads, “Team Dante. Team Vergil. One way ticket to Hell. See you May 12.” Tudum describes the larger conflict as a war between worlds in which Dante must battle his estranged twin.
That establishes the personal stakes, but not a definitive explanation of Vergil’s motives or allegiance. “Out for blood” works as a description of the trailer’s confrontational tone, not as a confirmed account of why Vergil is fighting.
When did Devil May Cry Season 2 come out?
The official trailer, published April 21, 2026, announced May 12, 2026 as Season 2’s release date. That date has passed, and Netflix’s current series listing shows two seasons. Netflix’s official listing is the place to check availability in your region.

How the trailer fits the Netflix series
Netflix’s animated Devil May Cry adapts Capcom’s game franchise. The series follows Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire, as forces seek to open a portal between the human and demon realms. Season 2 raises those stakes into a war between worlds and puts Dante’s conflict with Vergil at its center.
Adi Shankar leads the series, which is animated by Studio Mir. Netflix lists Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante and Robbie Daymond as Vergil; these are the show’s voice roles, not a claim about the games’ voice cast. Netflix Media Center dates the series premiere to April 2025.

What the trailer does—and does not—confirm
The official season description supports a story about estranged brothers in direct conflict, but it does not settle every question the trailer may prompt about what Vergil wants or which side he ultimately serves. The game franchise is the source material, while Netflix’s series is its own animated adaptation; details from a particular game should not automatically be treated as confirmation of the show’s plot.
In Netflix Tudum’s June 4, 2026 coverage, Shankar described his ambition this way: “Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform — period.” That is the showrunner’s stated goal, not an independent assessment of the finished series.
