James Kennedy is best known to Vanderpump Rules viewers as a sharp-tongued SUR employee who also pursues a DJ career. But the show’s orbit is only part of his story: his family had ties to music and entertainment, his parents helped open the door to his first SUR job, and his releases and live appearances extended beyond the series. Here are 10 distinct details, with older interviews and career snapshots kept in their proper context.
10 things to know about James Kennedy
1. James Kennedy is his public name; Bravo gives his birth name as James Georgiou
Bravo identifies the reality-TV personality and DJ as James Georgiou by birth. The name he uses publicly is James Kennedy. Bravo’s family profile also describes him as Britain-born.
2. His parents had careers in entertainment and music
Bravo identifies his mother, Jacqueline Georgiou, as a former model and actress, and his father, Andros Georgiou, as a music producer. Those family details come from Bravo’s reporting and interviews; they are not independent verification of every biographical claim.
3. His father had a long connection with George Michael
Andros toured with George Michael. In an account of a 2018 episode, Bravo reported that James said his father managed the singer and had been his best friend for years. Those are James’s attributed remarks, not a separately established account of the relationship. Bravo’s episode report recounts the comments.

4. He has two younger brothers, Harry and Dylan
Bravo names James’s younger brothers as Harry and Dylan. In a 2017 interview, James described them as close friends and spoke about their different interests. That interview is a snapshot from that time, not a current update on their ages or lives. Bravo’s family coverage includes the names and his comments.
5. His parents’ divorce affected him, especially because of his brothers
In the same 2017 interview coverage, James said the divorce was difficult and that he worried about his younger brothers. Bravo later reported that, during a 2018 episode, James said his father was living in England and that he missed him. These are personal accounts James gave at the time, rather than a complete picture of the family’s private life. Bravo’s interview coverage and its 2018 episode report describe those remarks.

6. His parents helped him get his first job at SUR
Lisa Vanderpump said she met James’s parents through choreographer Bruno Tonioli. At dinner, she said, they asked her to give their son a job, suggesting an entry-level position such as busser or barback. Vanderpump’s account connects a family introduction to James’s eventual place in the SUR workplace and the show. Bravo’s account of how James started at SUR reports her version.
7. His DJ career became part of the series, not just a storyline about the restaurant
Bravo’s career retrospective says Vanderpump Rules documented Kennedy’s DJ work for roughly a decade. The show therefore followed two strands of his public career: his role in the SUR cast and his efforts as a performer. That coverage describes his presence on the program, not the scale or current status of his bookings. Bravo’s retrospective looks back at the music work shown on the series.

8. He released an EP and an album
Bravo’s retrospective lists the EP Blitz in 2014 and the album Pump Sessions in 2016. It also notes remixes and rap performances, as well as work with castmate Lala Kent. Kennedy’s “White Kanye” nickname was a persona he later retired; it should not be mistaken for an official genre or industry classification. Bravo’s music-career account gives those release and career details.
9. He described his creative ambition in unusually expansive terms
In a 2016 interview quoted by Bravo, Kennedy said: “I want to create something no one has heard or seen before and I have nothing stopping me, the only thing that could possibly stop me is myself.” The statement captures his ambition at that point; it is not evidence of a particular later project or outcome. Bravo’s retrospective reproduces the quote.

Bravo reported that Kennedy opened for Kaskade at Imagine Festival and played a surprise back-to-back set at Stagecoach in 2023. In that report, Kennedy called the Kaskade opening his first music festival. These are specific appearances from 2023, not a guide to his current schedule. Bravo’s 2023 report describes the sets.

James’s role on Vanderpump Rules has changed over time, and the series has also included discussion of alcohol-related struggles and family difficulties. There is also a serious legal caveat in more recent coverage. The Associated Press reported that Kennedy was arrested in Burbank in December 2024 on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and released after posting bail. AP said the city attorney would determine whether charges would be filed. A later AP report covered Kennedy’s statement that he was committed to sobriety and personal growth and Ally Lewber’s statement that she was okay and taking the time she needed. These reports describe an arrest and statements; they do not establish guilt or provide a final legal disposition. Authorities did not identify the woman involved as Lewber, so the reports do not support naming her as the complainant. AP’s arrest report and its follow-up report provide the available details.
