It is a solid addition for viewers who enjoy imaginative short-form horror and found-footage grime, though the quality and polish vary across its segments.

Is V/H/S/Beyond any good?
Its main strength is the range of unsettling ideas. The Guardian describes a ragged, charming anthology whose stories span sharply different territory, including a Bollywood-set tale and a sinister dog daycare. RogerEbert.com likewise appreciates the segment concepts and places the film among the better recent entries in the series, while noting that some ideas are not fully realized. The Guardian’s review and RogerEbert.com’s review offer complementary takes.

#1 Best Overall
- V/H/S/Beyond [Blu-Ray]
That unevenness is part of the anthology trade-off: one segment’s premise or atmosphere may land better than another’s. The film is most rewarding if you enjoy the novelty of short, varied horror experiments and can tolerate rough edges, abrupt shifts, and the limitations of found-footage storytelling. It is less compelling if you want a single story with consistent pacing and carefully sustained execution.
How does it compare with other V/H/S films?
The available reviews support a qualified comparison, not a definitive franchise ranking. RogerEbert.com sees it as one of the stronger recent installments but still points to uneven execution; The Guardian emphasizes its variety and scruffy anthology character. To decide whether it suits your taste, consider:
Rank #2
- Blu-ray Movies, Blu-ray TV Shows
- Concepts: Are the individual premises inventive enough to carry short stories?
- Variety: Do changes in subject and visual approach keep an anthology engaging, or make it feel inconsistent?
- Sci-fi balance: Does the emphasis on aliens and other science-fiction horror appeal more than a collection centered on other horror modes?
- Format: Are you comfortable with found-footage presentation and the uneven rhythm of multiple segments?
