What did the reported leak say?
TechRadar reported on February 23, 2026, that a synopsis on Everyman’s UK cinema website referred to a “Wario and Bowser Jr.’s evil alliance.” The wording suggested a connection between the two characters in the movie, but it came from an exhibitor listing rather than a statement by Nintendo or Universal. TechRadar’s report establishes that the synopsis text was reported; it does not independently establish that Wario appears in the film.
Bowser Jr. was already officially announced by Nintendo and Illumination in November 2025. Wario was not named in the official announcements reviewed for this story.
Was Wario officially confirmed?
No official announcement reviewed here confirms Wario’s appearance. Nintendo’s public announcements named other characters, but a character’s absence from a published cast list is not proof that the character does not appear on screen. The careful conclusion is that Wario was reportedly mentioned in an Everyman synopsis and was not officially confirmed in the announcements reviewed.

In January 2026, Chris Pratt told GamesRadar+ that a couple of characters were not in the trailer and that viewers should be excited to see them. He did not identify those characters in the cited passage, so his comments do not confirm the Wario rumor.
How the character announcements unfolded
- September 12, 2025: Nintendo and Illumination announced the film’s title, listed returning voice cast members, and said additional characters and cast would be announced later.
- November 12, 2025: The companies announced Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson, and Bowser Jr., voiced by Benny Safdie, alongside the official trailer.
- January 2026: Pratt said some characters remained unrevealed, without naming them in the cited interview passage.
- February 23, 2026: TechRadar reported the Wario wording on Everyman’s online synopsis.
- March 10, 2026: Nintendo named Yoshi, Honey Queen, and Wart among the characters and voice cast. Wario was not on the published cast list; that omission alone does not settle whether he appears.
The film has already been released
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opened in the United States and many other markets on April 1, 2026, and premiered in Japan on April 24. Nintendo later reported more than $800 million in worldwide box-office gross revenue during the film’s first four weeks. Those release and box-office details provide context for an earlier leak report; they do not verify the synopsis wording or establish Wario’s role.
