IFFar also said it opened an internal administrative process after learning of the case through press coverage. Its statement did not conclude that he had fraudulently claimed a quota.
What IFFar confirmed—and what it did not
IFFar’s official note says Matteus’s application was made through places reserved for “pretos/pardos” (Black/Brown candidates) under the 2014 selection process. The institution pointed to public Edital No. 046/2014. This confirms the category used for his admission; it is not, by itself, a finding that the declaration was fraudulent.
IFFar said it ordered an internal administrative process after learning about the case from news coverage. The stated purpose was to identify the circumstances surrounding his participation in the selection process. The June 14, 2024 note does not announce the process’s result. How the 2014 process worked, according to IFFar
IFFar said the procedure at the time relied on self-declaration and did not include a mechanism to verify the declaration during selection. The institution said suspected fraud was handled after complaints through an administrative process that provided a right of defense. It also said it had received no complaint about Matteus before the case appeared in the press.

That account describes the process IFFar says applied in 2014. It should not be confused with the checks the institution adopted in later selection cycles.
Matteus’s explanation is a separate account
In a public response reported by gshow on June 14, 2024, Matteus said a third party completed the application and selected the racial-quota category by mistake, without his consent or prior knowledge. That is his explanation; the cited sources do not independently verify who filled out the application or what he knew at the time. Read the report on his response.

What is known about the course and his student status
The Agricultural Engineering bachelor’s course was offered jointly by IFFar and Unipampa. IFFar said it later discontinued its offering under a resolution dated December 29, 2021, and that Matteus was no longer an IFFar student. IFFar reported that it received 35 complaints of suspected self-declaration fraud from 2020 through 2022 and rejected 21 self-declarations after internal review. The institution also said heteroidentification was introduced for selection processes conducted in 2022 for admission in 2023. These figures concern IFFar’s broader procedures and other cases; they do not establish an outcome in Matteus’s case or describe the checks applied to his 2014 admission.
