A February 2024 report said chef Clare Smyth had reportedly travelled to Sydney in case Taylor Swift booked a table at Smyth’s restaurant, Oncore. It did not establish that Swift visited Oncore or that Smyth cooked for her. A separate report placed Swift at Pellegrino 2000.
What the report said about Clare Smyth and Oncore
The Standard reported on 22 February 2024 that Smyth had reportedly flown to Sydney in case Swift decided to dine at Oncore, Smyth’s Australian restaurant. The story also repeated a Yahoo Lifestyle account that the hotel team had contacted Smyth. These were reported accounts, not a direct confirmation from Smyth.
That distinction matters: being on hand in case of a possible booking is not the same as being hired to cater for Swift. The headline phrasing that Smyth was flown out “to cater for” her goes beyond what the article’s account established. The Standard’s report
Was Taylor Swift confirmed to have eaten at Oncore?
No. A 23 February 2024 follow-up by Tapas repeated the account of Smyth’s reported journey and explicitly said Swift’s visit to Oncore had not been confirmed. The available reporting does not verify that Swift booked or ate there, that Smyth cooked for her, or that the two met. Tapas’s follow-up

Where Swift was reported dining in Sydney
The Guardian reported that Swift dined at Pellegrino 2000 with Sabrina Carpenter on the evening of Tuesday, 20 February 2024. That reported sighting concerns a different restaurant from Oncore. The Guardian’s account includes diner Chris Melotti’s recollection: “Then it was literally like two minutes later, we were about to leave then the staff asked if we could wait a moment.” This quote relates to the Pellegrino 2000 sighting, not the Oncore claim.
