In May 2019, a segment on WWE Raw used footage of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, then wrestling together as The Revival, shaving each other’s backs in a shower. The Usos obtained the footage and used it against The Revival as embarrassing material in their rivalry. It was a scripted storyline, not a real-world privacy incident.
What aired
The segment ran on a Monday episode of Raw in the week before Fightful published its report on May 5, 2019. The available reporting does not state the exact air date, so this article does not assign one. The same Raw also featured a match in which The Revival lost to Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.
How WWE framed the footage
The storyline was introduced through a WWE.com preview, which Fightful reproduced. The preview acknowledged that the headline was overstated and described the material as mildly embarrassing. It said:
“Okay, so the headline shouldn’t have been that The Revival shave each other’s backs in the shower, but the mildly embarrassing footage obtained by The Usos was still enough to unman the ‘Top Guys’ when all was said and done.”

That wording tells you how the story was meant to work. The footage was not the twist in itself. Its purpose was to give The Usos a psychological edge over their opponents, with the embarrassment serving the rivalry rather than any larger plot.
The people involved
- The Revival: Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, the team that was the subject of the footage.
- The Usos: the team that obtained the footage and used it in the rivalry.
- Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins: the opponents who beat The Revival on the same episode.
The Revival’s response
Fightful’s headline framed the response around a line from WWE, describing back shaving as a possible “First of Many Humiliations” for the team. The headline itself is the most direct statement of that reaction in the reporting. Fightful’s coverage presents The Revival as taking part in the storyline rather than disputing the footage’s existence.

- Established: the footage was described as back shaving between Dawson and Wilder, was used by The Usos as a rivalry tool, and was framed by WWE as mildly embarrassing storyline material.
- Not established: an exact air date, any real-world privacy complaint, or any product tied to the segment.
For readers looking for the storyline’s place in WWE’s history, the key point is that it was a short, comedic humiliation angle in a 2019 tag team feud, documented in trade reporting from that week.
