Adam Timmerman, a two-time Super Bowl champion and former NFL offensive lineman, was back in Cherokee, Iowa, by the time of a 2017 Successful Farming profile. He farmed with his brother and nephews while also serving as a shareholder and general manager at Icon Ag & Turf, a John Deere dealership group. The profile offers a portrait of how football, family farming, and dealership leadership intersected in his life then—not a confirmation of his current work or circumstances.
Who was the two-time Super Bowl champion?
Timmerman grew up on a farm in Cherokee, Iowa, and played college football at South Dakota State University. The 2017 profile says he earned Division II All-American and Academic All-American honors and played in the Snow Bowl, a Division II all-star game.
The Green Bay Packers selected him in the seventh and final round of the 1995 NFL draft, 230th overall. He played four seasons for Green Bay and was a starting member of the team that won Super Bowl XXXI. The Packers also reached Super Bowl XXXII during his tenure.
In 1999, he signed with the St. Louis Rams. He started for the Rams team that won Super Bowl XXXIV, then returned to the Super Bowl with the team in XXXVI. His 12-year professional career ended with retirement in 2007. The profile reports that he played 221 consecutive games, counting regular-season and playoff appearances. Successful Farming published the interview and profile on October 30, 2017.

What did “back on the family farm” mean?
It did not mean that farming was his only job. In the profile, Timmerman had returned to Cherokee with his family and farmed alongside his brother and nephews. He also held shareholder and general-manager roles at Icon Ag & Turf, a John Deere dealership group. Those were separate responsibilities: farm work with relatives and cattle on one side, and running the dealership on the other.
The interview describes the general-manager position as demanding substantial time. Timmerman said his nephews were getting started in farming and that he enjoyed helping them. He also described farm work and spending time with cattle as a welcome release from dealership responsibilities.

How did football connect to farming and dealership work?
Timmerman saw a shared physical and mental challenge in football and farming. Asked what the two had in common, he answered, “They are both tough on you physically and mentally.” His comment describes his own experience rather than making a broader claim about farming.
He also saw leadership skills carrying over from football to dealership management. The profile recounts that he had taken leadership roles and learned from coaches and mentors. His return to farm life was therefore not simply a change from professional sports to fieldwork: it combined family agriculture with a management job.

What did farming mean to him?
In the 2017 interview, Timmerman called farming “a way of life.” He recalled that farm work—and seeing soil turned in spring—made him want to get outside. He described farm and dealership work as demanding, but the time on the farm and with cattle as personally restorative.
These details are a snapshot of what he said and did as reported in 2017. They do not establish his present residence, family arrangements, farming activity, or role at Icon Ag & Turf.
