How the puzzle works
Parade describes Connections: Sports Edition as a daily puzzle in which players sort 16 words into four groups of four. The game is a partnership between The New York Times and The Athletic; its instruction, as attributed by Parade to the game, is to “group sports terms that share a common thread.”
