Reporting described it as meant to be private, and said it pressed her to act on investigations involving political rivals, including former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The claim that the post was an accident comes from that reporting. The exact wording of the post and the mechanics of the error are not established by the public record available, so the accidental part should be read as reported rather than independently verified.
When the post appeared
The message was posted on September 20, 2025. An EFE report dated October 11, 2025, says the post was later deleted and that U.S. media described it as a private communication directed to Bondi. The sources available do not give an exact deletion time, and they do not say how many people saw the post before it was removed.
What the message asked for
Associated Press reporting says the message demanded action on investigations tied to James Comey, Adam Schiff, and Letitia James. EFE describes the post as urging legal action against Trump’s political rivals and as questioning why no concrete legal action had yet been taken. Both accounts describe pressure on the attorney general to move. Neither provides a complete verbatim text, so any quoted wording from the post itself should be treated with caution until the original is available in a primary archive.
The same-day exchange with reporters
The official White House transcript of Trump’s September 20, 2025, exchange with reporters records a question about whether he was criticizing Bondi. His answer was:

The White House response
AP reported that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt characterized the post as Trump demanding accountability. That is the administration’s framing. It is one of two readings of the same message: reporting that the post was a private note meant for Bondi, and the White House view that it was a public demand for accountability. Neither reading, on its own, settles whether the post was accidental or whether any named person should be investigated or charged.
Who Pam Bondi is in this story
The Justice Department’s official biography identifies Pamela J. Bondi as the 87th Attorney General of the United States. It says President Trump appointed her on February 5, 2025, and lists her service as 2025 to 2026. That places her in the office when the September 2025 post appeared. Because the biography covers a completed period, it is a historical record and should not be read as confirmation of her current position.
