Before Travis Kelce arrived in Sydney in February 2024, his father, Ed Kelce, described him as “keen” to go—but not as having confirmed a trip. Us Weekly reported on February 20 that Ed said Travis would like to see Sydney and Singapore, though he had commitments. Two days later, Entertainment Tonight reported that Travis had arrived in Sydney.
What Ed Kelce said about a possible trip
Us Weekly reported on February 20, 2024, that Ed Kelce had told The Sydney Morning Herald his son “seemed keen” to travel after the Super Bowl. Ed was also quoted as saying Travis “said he’d really like to see Sydney and Singapore,” but had commitments. The report describes interest, not a confirmed itinerary at the time. Us Weekly’s February 20 report attributed the remarks to an interview with the Herald; the quotations here are through Us Weekly, not a direct transcript.
What happened next in Sydney
Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour dates in Sydney were due to begin February 23, 2024. On February 22, Entertainment Tonight reported that Kelce had arrived in Sydney. The outlet quoted an unnamed source saying, “Travis is very into Taylor and wanted to be there to support her during her shows in Australia.” That is the source’s characterization, not a public statement from Travis or Ed Kelce. Why the friendship-bracelet story came up
The Sydney speculation followed a widely reported early detail in the couple’s story. Us Weekly said Kelce had tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet bearing his phone number at a Kansas City stop on her tour. The anecdote is background to their connection, not evidence about when or why he decided to travel. The Associated Press later included the bracelet in its relationship timeline and recorded that Kelce joined Swift in Australia. Us Weekly’s account and the Associated Press timeline provide those later details.

The Associated Press’s retrospective timeline places the Australia visit among later relationship milestones and reports that Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August 2025. That later development should not be read back into Ed’s February 2024 remarks, which concerned a tentative trip after the Super Bowl.
