What happened in the crash?
Deputies were dispatched at 5:44 p.m. on April 2 to the 28000 block of Rancho California Road for a vehicle collision, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department statement quoted by Fox News. The department’s account said deputies found two vehicles with collision damage.

Spelling said she was driving with four of her children and three of their friends when another driver struck their vehicle. In her account, the other driver was going very fast, and she swerved to reduce the impact on the children. Those descriptions are Spelling’s account of the collision, not a determination of fault or cause. ABC News reported her account and public update.
Were Spelling and the children hospitalized?
Yes, according to Spelling’s representative: CBS Los Angeles reported that her manager said Spelling and the four children were transported to a hospital in three ambulances. Spelling later thanked first responders and Inland Valley ER in Wildomar for caring for the children and her, according to ABC News.

The Sheriff’s Office account reported occupants were medically evaluated at the scene. That is a separate statement from the representative’s report of hospital transport; the quoted law-enforcement account did not itself confirm that Spelling or the children were admitted or transported.

The available reports do not provide a detailed diagnosis for each person in the vehicle, identify the other driver, or establish a final cause or fault finding. Fox News reported that no arrests had been made and the cause remained under investigation at the time of its April 7, 2026, report. That describes the status then, not necessarily the status today.

In a public update reported by ABC News on April 8, Spelling thanked first responders and the Wildomar emergency room staff, saying, “I just want to thank all of the first responders on the scene and to Inland Valley ER in Wildomar that took such great care of all of the kids and myself.”
