A 2025 report described a Pornhub map of searches that were relatively distinctive in U.S. states during the week before Valentine’s Day. It did not identify the most-searched terms by raw volume, and the complete state-by-state map and methodology are not available in the account.
What the Pornhub Valentine’s Day map showed
A February 16, 2025 report said Pornhub shared a map with Mashable showing terms searched relatively more often in each state during the week leading up to Valentine’s Day. The report supplied selected examples rather than a complete list: New York was described as having more “emotional” searches, Wyoming as distinctive for “hugging,” Oregon for BDSM, and Georgia for strap-on. The accessible account said 17 states were grayed out, but did not explain the omissions with a clear, complete methodology. It does not support filling in the missing states or treating the examples as a full map.
What “top” means—and what it does not
In this report, “top” refers to relative distinctiveness: a term was searched more often in a particular state than in other states. That is different from having the highest total number of searches. The map therefore does not establish raw search volume, the share of residents who searched a term, or what people in a state generally prefer.

The reported data concerned Pornhub searches, not a survey of state residents or a public government dataset. The account does not provide exact start and end dates for the observation week, a complete map, or enough methodological detail to independently assess each state entry.
How this differs from Google’s Valentine’s Day trends
Google published a separate look at Valentine’s Day-related searches in 2020. It named Virginia, Oregon, Mississippi, Texas, and California as the states with the most searches for “love” since 2004, and also showed state-level trends for romantic comedies.
