15 WWE Moments Cut From the Broadcast? What the Evidence Actually Confirms

WWE’s official “Censored!” playlist does not reveal a verified list of 15 broadcast cuts. Here’s how the documented examples differ from proven edits.

There is no verified list of 15 WWE moments cut from their original broadcasts in the available sources. WWE does have an official playlist titled “Censored! Moments that were too intense for TV,” but its accessible page does not identify the clips. Several often-discussed controversial segments are documented as having aired, not as having been removed. Here is what can be established—and what would be needed to call a moment a broadcast cut.

What WWE’s “Censored!” playlist establishes—and what it doesn’t

WWE’s official playlist is titled “Censored! Moments that were too intense for TV.” That confirms WWE uses the label for a playlist of clips. The accessible page text does not enumerate those clips, however, so it cannot verify a specific set of 15 moments or show that each was cut from an original broadcast.

“Censored” can describe different things: a live edit, an edit made for a daytime or regional transmission, a change to a later replay or archive, or footage left out of a condensed highlights package. Those are not interchangeable. Without evidence identifying the version and the change, a clip’s inclusion in a playlist—or a shorter runtime—does not establish that it was cut from the original broadcast.

Controversial WWE segments that are not verified broadcast cuts

Big Boss Man crashes Big Show’s father’s funeral

In a retrospective published March 9, 2017, WWE recounts the November 11, 1999, SmackDown segment in which Big Boss Man chained the coffin to his car and drove away while Big Show clung to it. WWE describes the angle as controversial; that account does not say the segment was censored or removed. Controversy is not evidence of an edit.

John Cena reveals the spinner title

The same WWE retrospective describes Cena’s April 14, 2005, title reveal and JBL’s reaction. It documents the segment but does not identify it as censored or cut. It therefore cannot support a claim that this moment was removed from a broadcast.

Wade Barrett’s bare-knuckle-fight sequence

A secondary report dated March 8, 2013, describes an Ofcom decision concerning a pre-recorded Wade Barrett sequence on WWE Superstars, shown on Sky 1 on November 10, 2012. The report says Sky described carefully editing WWE for daytime audiences. This is a lead about a daytime transmission, not sufficient primary evidence to state exactly what was edited or what the regulator decided. Without the original Ofcom bulletin and a comparison with the relevant versions, the precise edit remains unverified here.

“Uncut and uncensored” was a launch-era promise, not a current guarantee

In its January 8, 2014, WWE Network launch announcement, WWE said the service would offer WWE, WCW, and ECW pay-per-views and classic matches “uncut and uncensored.” That records what WWE announced for the Network at launch. It does not establish that every item remains available in an unchanged form today, or that current catalogs and regional versions on other services are uncensored.

WWE’s current viewing guide names WWE Network, Netflix, Sony LIV, and Flow as routes to some programming. Availability depends on territory and rights; the guide does not establish that each service carries the same episodes or versions. Check the service and region in question before treating its copy as a comparison source.

What would prove that a WWE moment was cut?

A defensible entry needs enough detail to distinguish the original airing from the version being compared. For each claim, establish:

  • The program and date: Identify the event or show and its original air date.
  • The territory and outlet: Name the broadcaster or platform and the region; include whether the transmission was daytime or otherwise specially scheduled.
  • The broadcast circumstances: Establish whether the show was live, taped, or delayed.
  • The alleged change: Specify the footage, audio, or wording that differs, rather than saying only that a version was “censored.”
  • The comparison: Identify both versions and a source that permits them to be compared. A different runtime by itself does not prove which scene, if any, was removed.

Then describe the edit narrowly: call it live-censored, edited for a regional or daytime transmission, changed in a later replay or archive, or omitted from a condensed highlights version only when the evidence supports that label. State the platform, region, and date for each version compared.

Why the “15 moments” count cannot be treated as established

The available WWE retrospective supports the history of two controversial segments, not their removal. The official playlist confirms a “Censored!” category but does not expose its individual entries. The Wade Barrett account is secondary and does not, on its own, establish the exact edit. Together, these sources do not verify 15 cuts or a comprehensive total of WWE broadcast edits.

WWE’s 2014 announcement also cited more than 1,500 hours of video on demand at the Network’s launch. That was a historical launch-era library figure, not a current catalog measurement and not a count of censored moments.
