A fire at Tomorrowland Belgium’s site in Boom on July 16, 2025, severely damaged the Mainstage just two days before the festival was due to open. Organizers reported no injuries. The original stage was later described as destroyed, but Tomorrowland says its teams built a replacement structure at the same site in less than 48 hours, and the festival went ahead.
What happened at Tomorrowland?
The fire broke out on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, during the final stages of construction and rehearsals for Tomorrowland Belgium. The first weekend was scheduled to begin on Friday. In its initial statement, organizers said the Mainstage had been “severely damaged” and confirmed nobody was injured. The Associated Press reported that flames and smoke engulfed the stage and spread toward nearby woodland. Associated Press
The initial statement described severe damage; Tomorrowland’s later retrospective said the original Mainstage was destroyed. These descriptions reflect what was reported at different points, not a claim that the entire festival site burned. Tomorrowland’s post-event account
Was anyone hurt, and what caused the fire?
Organizers said no one was injured. Their initial statement did not identify a cause. On July 17, Al Jazeera reported that Antwerp prosecutors had opened an investigation and that the fire appeared accidental at that stage. The reviewed official retrospective does not give a final investigative conclusion, so the cause should not be treated as established. Al Jazeera

What is known about the investigation?
The public accounts establish the timing, reported injuries and recovery, but not a final cause. The July 16 organizer statement, reproduced by the Associated Press, called the incident serious and said the Mainstage was severely damaged; it did not explain how the fire started. Al Jazeera’s July 17 report described an investigation and said the fire appeared accidental. The later festival retrospective recounts the reconstruction and event outcome without stating a final investigative finding. Associated Press · Al Jazeera · Tomorrowland
