The Guildford Hotel expanded into the adjoining former Vaudeville Theatre, reopening the historic building as The Hall in July 2024. Contemporary reports described a $2.8 million renovation and a casual dining and beer-hall space with a beer garden, outdoor barbecue kitchen, family facilities and screens for sport and events.
What is The Hall?
The Hall is an expansion of The Guildford Hotel in Guildford, Western Australia. It occupies the adjoining former Vaudeville Theatre, which was converted into a dining and beer-hall space. PerthNow reported that the renovated space was unveiled earlier in July 2024; Perth Vibes reported an official opening on 11 July that year. These are launch-era dates, not upcoming events.
PerthNow and PubTIC each reported the renovation cost as $2.8 million in 2024. The figure is attributed to those reports; the available coverage does not establish it through a primary budget record.
A theatre with a long local history
PubTIC reported that Vaudeville Hall was built in 1898 as a community theatre by George Hiscox, whom it identified as the Guildford Hotel’s first licensee and publican. The project brought the theatre and hotel together again, adapting the adjoining heritage building for contemporary hospitality rather than leaving it in its former role.

The Hall’s appeal at launch came from combining several uses in the hotel’s adjoining historic building: a community-theatre setting repurposed for dining, barbecue cooking and a beer garden, with family facilities and space for sport or events. It was presented as a place for locals and visitors to gather, rather than as a theatre continuing its original function.
