After the Tulsa King Season 2 finale, Sylvester Stallone said Dwight “The General” Manfredi would face unfamiliar territory, new government pressure and an uneasy partnership. Calling the change “a bittersweet situation,” Stallone was referring to Manfredi leaving behind the New York life he had known—not to Stallone’s own circumstances.
Why Stallone called Manfredi’s next chapter “bittersweet”
In an interview published November 25, 2024, Stallone described Manfredi’s move away from his former New York existence as bittersweet. “It’s a bittersweet situation,” he told USA TODAY reporter Bryan Alexander. The line frames a character’s departure from a familiar life even as he faces a new one in Tulsa.

Stallone, an actor and executive producer on the Paramount+ series, also said, “I’m going to take him on a journey that he’s never expecting.” His preview focused on how the story would keep changing Manfredi’s circumstances rather than letting him become comfortable.
Season 2’s finale leaves Manfredi under government pressure
The finale ends with a tactical team taking Manfredi into custody. He is told, “You work for us now.” The interview does not identify the government figure behind the ultimatum, so it does not establish who is directing Manfredi or what the arrangement will entail.
#1 Best Overall
Stallone characterized Manfredi as unwilling to inform on others, while prepared to act against people he believes deserve it. As he put it: “I’m not going to snitch, but if I have to do some deeds to people that deserve it, I’m going to.” That distinction leaves open how Manfredi will respond to the government’s demand without making him a conventional informant.
Stallone previewed a wider map and a continuing fish-out-of-water story
Stallone said Manfredi’s reach would extend beyond Tulsa. The Season 3 setup raises Iowa, Nebraska and Arkansas as possible untapped territories, placing him in settings where he must adapt rather than simply repeat the routines he has established.
Rank #2
Stallone described that approach as central to the show: “The main thing is to keep the fish-out-of-water situation going. Because once (Manfredi) gets settled in a situation, it becomes almost like a sitcom.” The point is not just geographic expansion; unfamiliar surroundings keep the character’s adjustment—and the friction it creates—at the center of the story.
The Manfredi–Bevilaqua deal looks unstable
In the finale, Bevilaqua kills Chickie after making a secret arrangement with Manfredi. Stallone described the two men as business partners, but cautioned that “this is not a marriage that’s going to last long.” The alliance is therefore presented as useful for the moment, not as a settled relationship.

Manfredi’s conflict with Cal Thresher also remains unresolved. Alongside the government ultimatum and the new partnership, that tension gives the next chapter several unsettled relationships to carry forward.
Mitch Keller’s dealership story is set to grow
Stallone said Mitch Keller, played by Garrett Hedlund, would continue building his car-dealership world and “grow a great deal next season.” The Season 2 finale’s business landscape also includes Manfredi’s cannabis dispensary, Even Higher Plane.
