Rodney Dangerfield’s Al Czervik gets the final spoken line in the released Caddyshack: “Hey, we’re all going to get laid!” Director Harold Ramis later described it as an improvised line, though his account does not establish who first came up with the wording.
What is Rodney Dangerfield’s last line in Caddyshack?
After the golf-course explosion, Dangerfield’s character, Al Czervik, shouts: “Hey, we’re all going to get laid!” That is the last line in the released film. The line’s abrupt, celebratory turn is part of the ending’s deliberately unruly feel.

What did director Harold Ramis say about the line?
In an interview excerpt reproduced in On Story: Screenwriters and Filmmakers on Their Iconic Films, Ramis called it improvised: “The last line of Caddyshack is, ‘Hey, we’re all going to get laid,’ and it was an improvised line that I can’t even believe I edited into the movie.” Read the excerpt attributed to Ramis.
That supports calling the line an ad-lib, but it does not say who first suggested or spoke the wording. It is therefore more precise to say that the line was improvised than to credit Dangerfield alone with inventing it. CinemaBlend also recounts Ramis’s attribution and the line’s place in the ending. How the ad-lib fits the ending
The line arrives after the explosion, as a final comic button rather than a logical consequence of the action. GOLF.com reports Ramis describing it as making “absolutely no sense,” which suited a film that had become increasingly freewheeling. GOLF.com’s account of the ending.
Secondary accounts also describe earlier versions of the ending as continuing with Danny at the airport; one reported draft included a Ty and Lacey scene. Those reports offer context, but they are not a substitute for checking a specific screenplay against the released cut. An index of Caddyshack script resources notes that multiple versions exist, so an early draft should not be treated as definitive evidence of the final film’s dialogue. Why the exact wording matters
Ramis’s account is useful because it identifies both the film’s last line and its improvised status. It does not supply a recording date for the interview or identify the line’s originator. The safe, well-supported takeaway is that Dangerfield delivers the line as Al Czervik and Ramis said it was improvised.
