Yes, according to later accounts by Donald Trump Jr. and House Speaker Mike Johnson: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ate the McDonald’s meal shown in a photograph aboard Trump Force One. The image itself, posted by Trump Jr. on November 17, 2024, shows Kennedy at a table with the food; the claim that he ate it comes from those later reports, not from the still image alone.
What the Trump Force One photo shows
Donald Trump Jr. shared the photograph on November 17, 2024, after Donald Trump, Kennedy, Elon Musk and Johnson attended a UFC event in New York. In the image, Trump, Kennedy and Musk are seated at a table with McDonald’s food aboard Trump Force One. Johnson is also in the frame, standing rather than seated.
Trump Jr. captioned the post: “Make America Healthy Again starts TOMORROW.” The caption connected the fast-food scene to the health-focused message associated with Kennedy, making the photograph notable beyond the gathering itself. The Miami Herald covered the image and the question of whether Kennedy ate; Fortune reported the post and its context.
Did Kennedy eat the McDonald’s meal?
The photograph establishes that Kennedy was at the table with the food, but a photograph by itself does not establish what he consumed. Later coverage reported that Trump Jr. and Johnson confirmed Kennedy ate the meal. The Daily Beast reported those confirmations. That is the basis for answering yes; it is distinct from what can be concluded from the image alone.

Why the image drew attention
The contrast was between Kennedy’s public advocacy around healthy eating and the fast food visible in the photograph, alongside Trump Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again” caption. It is a contrast in messaging and setting, not evidence about anyone’s overall diet or health.
Kennedy has also spoken critically about food served on campaign aircraft. Fortune reported that he told podcaster Joe Polish: “Campaign food is always bad, but the food that goes onto that airplane is, like, just poison.” He was describing campaign-plane food generally; that remark was not a comment about the specific McDonald’s meal in the photograph. Fortune reported his remarks.

Why some later versions of the photo look different
