This editorial shortlist spotlights Sol de Janeiro’s Casa Cheirosa, American Express’s Amex Experience and Pinterest’s “Your Desert Oasis, Remixed.” It is not an objective ranking: the available coverage offers no shared scoring system or comparable performance figures for the three.
What makes these three Coachella campaigns stand out?
Each activation gave attendees a different kind of reason to engage: Sol de Janeiro translated fragrance into an immersive setting; American Express paired a cardmember lounge with practical festival comforts; and Pinterest invited visitors to create and remix visual ideas. Together, they show how experiential activations can express a brand in ways beyond a conventional booth or logo placement.
The examples come from MCH Global’s May 8, 2025 editorial selection of three standout activations. The dimensions discussed below are useful comparison lenses, not a published scoring rubric. A separate metric-based account illustrates why “top” depends on what is measured: Business of Fashion reported that CreatorIQ’s earned-media-value analysis ranked Rhode first and Kosas second among beauty brands at Coachella 2025. That ranking concerns a different set of brands and a different metric; it is not a head-to-head comparison of these three activations.
1. Sol de Janeiro: Casa Cheirosa made fragrance part of the environment
MCH Global described Sol de Janeiro as Coachella’s first official fragrance and body care partner and reported that Casa Cheirosa measured 30 by 30 feet. The installation used scent, colorful design, photo moments and fragrance walls to make the product category itself part of the experience. Instead of simply displaying fragrance, the activation made scent one way attendees could encounter the brand.

Agency FutureLabs described six interactive zones—Attract, Enter, Entice, Engage, Chill and Extend—and named Cheirosa 76, Cheirosa 40 and Rio Radiance Cheirosa 87 from the Cheirosa Perfume Mist Collection. Those are agency-reported details, not independently measured results. The named collection is the clearest direct link between the installation and a physical product; the available coverage does not establish that the activation increased sales, loyalty or other business outcomes.
2. American Express: Amex Experience combined access with practical help
MCH Global described an American Express cardholder lounge with misting stations, complimentary refreshments, exclusive merchandise and phone charging. Chief Marketer’s contemporaneous roundup adds festival-themed merchandise personalization with charms, photo settings with a “glimmer” theme and prize games. Cardmembers could also access a festival merchandise bundle while supplies lasted.
The activation’s distinctive mix was utility and exclusivity. Charging, refreshment and respite address real festival needs, while cardmember access and limited merchandise make the space feel like a membership benefit. That is a strategic interpretation of the reported features—not proof of stronger customer retention, additional card sign-ups or incremental sales.
3. Pinterest: “Your Desert Oasis, Remixed” invited attendees to create
MCH Global described Pinterest’s artist-led space as “Your Desert Oasis, Remixed,” with collage stations and DIY art installations where visitors could make and remix visual ideas. Business of Fashion also reported that Pinterest’s Coachella booths highlighted a broader range of styles, including streetwear and Charli XCX-inspired looks, rather than relying only on the familiar flower-crown image of festival fashion.

Pinterest chief content officer Malik Ducard told Business of Fashion, “I wouldn’t use single or singular in terms of a Coachella aesthetic.” Pinterest reported that searches for vintage low-rise jeans rose 329 percent, leather outfits rose 115 percent and “dark dreamy aesthetic” rose 870 percent before the festival. Those are search trends in Pinterest’s Coachella trends report, not evidence that the activation caused the increases or a measure of its reach.

What “top” means—and what the figures cannot prove
There is no shared public scorecard in the cited coverage that establishes one of these three as the best by sales, reach or return on investment. MCH Global selected them as standouts, while Business of Fashion’s account of CreatorIQ’s analysis assessed earned media value for a tracked set of beauty and fashion brands. Different scopes and criteria can produce different lists without directly contradicting each other.
Business of Fashion reported CreatorIQ’s earned media value for tracked beauty and fashion brands during Coachella’s first weekend as $52.63 million in 2024 and $40.8 million in 2025. These are category-level figures, not results for the three activations. Earned media value is not sales or proof of return on investment. The reviewed coverage does not provide comparable activation costs, conversion rates, incremental sales or ROI for Casa Cheirosa, Amex Experience and Pinterest’s space.
Coachella marketing also spans distinct formats: official festival sponsorships, on-site brand booths, influencer appearances, off-site parties and content houses. A brand appearing in festival coverage is not automatically an official festival partner. Chief Marketer reported that the 2025 festival took place April 11–13 and April 18–20 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. MCH Global stated that Coachella drew more than 125,000 attendees daily in its general festival context; that figure is not an attendance count for any of these activations or a verified official festival statistic in the cited coverage.
