Renegades is the first young adult superhero novel in Marissa Meyer’s trilogy. Its central conflict joins Nova, who seeks revenge against the Renegades, with Adrian, a Renegade who believes in justice—and in her. Their connection puts them on opposite sides of a struggle over who gets to define justice in Gatlon City.
What is Renegades about?
In Marissa Meyer’s novel, people with extraordinary abilities emerged after society’s collapse. The Renegades established order and protect citizens from the Anarchists, the villains they overthrew. The publisher presents the Renegades as champions of justice, but the conflict is not as simple as heroes against villains: Nova has reason to oppose the order they built, and her allegiance to a villain may put both her and Adrian in danger.
