Revelations, a Korean thriller directed by Train to Busan filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, premiered on Netflix on March 21, 2025. What is Revelations about?
Pastor Sung Min-chan believes God has revealed that Kwon Yang-rae is responsible for the disappearance of his son. He pursues the man he suspects, while detective Lee Yeon-hui investigates the case and contends with visions connected to her deceased sister. The two leads are played by Ryu Jun-yeol as Min-chan and Shin Hyun-been as Yeon-hui. The setup brings religious conviction and police investigation into the same case, with the characters’ beliefs and personal histories shaping how they pursue it.
Who made the film?
Yeon Sang-ho directed Revelations and co-wrote it with Choi Gyu-seok. Alfonso Cuarón is an executive producer. Yeon is known for directing Train to Busan; Netflix Tudum quotes him describing how many of his live-action films explore surreal themes in fantasy worlds, a point of contrast with Revelations’ closer-to-home darkness.

Is Revelations based on a comic?
Yes. Netflix says the film is based on a 2022 comic created by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok. The Korea Film Council also identifies the source as their online comic and describes the film’s subject as the dangers of selective belief in contemporary society. Those sources establish the adaptation’s origin, but do not establish details about a print edition or its current availability.
