#1 Best Overall
- All six Resident Evil movies, now together in one collection! Based on the popular video game series and starring Milla Jovovich, these sci-fi thrillers are must-watch genre classics!
The 2026 film enters at number three
The 2026 Resident Evil ranks third, ahead of Retribution and the earlier films below it, but behind the two leaders. Because it is a recent release, the reported $250,541,078 total is a dated snapshot rather than a final lifetime figure.
Welcome to Raccoon City ranks eighth
Welcome to Raccoon City is last among these eight films, with a reported worldwide gross of $41,909,091.
What these box-office figures do—and do not—measure
Worldwide gross is the total theatrical box-office measure used here; it is not the amount a studio keeps or a film’s profit. Gross does not subtract production, marketing, distribution, or theater costs. It also should not be confused with domestic gross, opening-weekend receipts, or inflation-adjusted earnings, which are separate measures.
For example, The Numbers lists the 2026 film’s production budget as $75 million and its opening weekend as $60,152,878, alongside its $250,541,078 worldwide gross. Those figures describe different things; only worldwide gross determines its position in this list. See the The Numbers page for the 2026 film for those reported figures.

Why animated films are not in this list
The franchise also includes animated features, such as Death Island, Vendetta, Damnation, and Degeneration. This article compares the eight live-action theatrical films, rather than every screen release associated with Resident Evil. The distinction is also reflected in the Resident Evil film series overview.
