No. John Cena’s WWE run in 2025 was announced as a year-long farewell tour, not a full-time return. WWE set his final in-ring match for December 13, 2025, against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.; WWE’s current profile says Cena retired from in-ring competition at the end of 2025.
Was John Cena back in WWE full-time in 2025?
No. WWE presented Cena’s 2025 appearances as a farewell tour. On January 6, during the Netflix premiere of Raw, he announced his plan to win the Royal Rumble, marking the start of the run. WWE later described it as a year-long tour with stops at WrestleMania 41 and SummerSlam—not a return to full-time wrestling.
WWE’s September 30 announcement said Cena’s decorated career included 17 World Championships. The announcement also set a date for his last match in the ring.
When was John Cena’s final match, and who was his opponent?
WWE announced that Cena’s final in-ring match would take place on December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C. On December 5, WWE named Gunther as his opponent and said the match would end the tour.

Does retirement mean Cena will never appear in WWE again?
WWE’s current profile describes Cena as retired from in-ring competition at the end of 2025. That establishes the end of his wrestling career in the ring; it does not establish that he will never appear in WWE in another capacity. WWE’s cited announcements and profile do not settle whether he will make future non-wrestling appearances.
