What was Centrestage’s first performance?
PerthNow reported on February 9, 2023, that Centrestage Recording Studios would host Only For Love, a concert of popular love songs, on February 11 and 12. At the time, tickets were listed through TryBooking; that listing relates to the past event and is not current ticket information. How was the concert designed?
The planned performance paired soprano Fiona Mariah with Mondia at the Fazioli grand piano. Mondia was to create a soundscape using original arrangements of the songs. Rather than seating the audience at a distance, the studio planned to place listeners literally on stage while Mariah sang, for a close-up experience focused on the details of the performance.
PerthNow described Centrestage as an intimate recording and performance space on Baker Avenue in Perth. The article said the venue was built using Western Australian native woods, with the Fazioli grand piano as its centerpiece, and that it supported music production, education and live concerts. Those are descriptions published in 2023, not confirmation of the venue’s present-day facilities or operations.

Who were Fiona Mariah and Nunzio Mondia?
Fiona Mariah
PerthNow described Mariah as an internationally performing soprano who had sung major roles by Mozart, Puccini, Handel, Verdi, Lehár and Britten. The article quoted her saying: “It is comforting to be performing in a beautiful acoustically perfect recording studio where all I have to think about is my performance,”
Nunzio Mondia
The article described Mondia as a pianist, accordionist, composer, arranger and music producer with more than 30 years in the music industry. It named Ray Charles, Michael Crawford, Demis Roussos, Hugh Jackman, Thelma Houston and Hank Marvin among artists with whom he had worked. These biographical details are attributed to PerthNow’s 2023 report.
