Constance Hall said Tim Minchin was her neighbour while she was growing up in Perth. In March 2024, she reconnected with him for an in-person interview on her To Be Frank podcast, after the pair had not seen each other since she was a teenager.
What Constance Hall said about growing up next door to Tim Minchin
In a post quoted by PerthNow, Hall recalled that she had told people over the years that she “lived next door to Tim Minchin when I was young,” but that many doubted her. PerthNow presented the childhood-neighbour connection as Hall’s account; its report does not provide exact dates, street addresses or separate documentary confirmation of where either lived.

Hall said she had not seen Minchin since she was a teenager when she contacted him to invite him onto her podcast. She quoted his reply as: “of course I will ya goose. I’ll do it when I’m in Perth so I can do it in person.” Hall later described their reunion and hearing his version of her childhood crush or obsession as “nothing short of magic.” PerthNow’s 11 March 2024 report recounts Hall’s statements and the podcast invitation.
The podcast reunion
The interview appeared on Hall’s To Be Frank podcast under the title “Tim Minchin in the Flesh.” The episode listing says Minchin revisits his childhood home and reconnects with old neighbours Con and Claud, reminiscing about growing up next door in Perth. The Castbox listing was updated on 10 March 2024. It describes a reunion but does not specify the childhood years or address.

Why some headlines call Hall a “mummy blogger”
PerthNow used “mummy blogger” in its 2024 headline. The phrase should be understood as a label used in coverage, not assumed to be Hall’s preferred description: in a 2016 ABC News profile, she objected to it, saying, “It’s patronising!” The profile described her as a Perth-based blogger and author and discussed her view that the label diminished women’s identities after motherhood. That is her stated position in that interview, not evidence of her current preferred wording. ABC News published the profile on 25 October 2016.
