What is Imu’s Devil Fruit? The best current answer is that the manga has reportedly identified Imu as a user of a power labeled Akuma no Mi (“The Devil’s Fruit”), but that wording does not reveal a specific fruit name, model, or complete set of abilities. Imu’s exact fruit identity remains unconfirmed. This is an ongoing-manga spoiler discussion, current through the official VIZ chapter listing dated September 27, 2026.
What does the manga actually say about Imu’s Devil Fruit?
VIZ’s official One Piece chapter list runs through Chapter 1194, dated September 27, 2026. A secondary summary of Chapter 1179 reports that Imu is identified as wielding the Akuma no Mi, translated there as “The Devil’s Fruit.” The official VIZ listing dates Chapter 1179 to April 5, 2026.

That reported label is suggestive, but it is not enough to identify a particular fruit. It does not, by itself, establish a conventional fruit name, a Zoan model, the source of Devil Fruits, or the full mechanics of Imu’s power. The reported wording should be checked against the licensed chapter before being quoted as definitive English text.
For general context, the official One Piece.com Devil Fruit explainer says fruit abilities vary and that their origins and cultivation remain mysterious; it also describes the sea-related drawback faced by users. Those general rules do not settle how Imu’s reported label should be interpreted.

What powers does Imu have?
A secondary summary of Chapter 1181 attributes the term “Omen” to one of Imu’s abilities. That term is not proof that “Omen” is the fruit’s name, nor does it provide a complete account of how the ability works. Without checking the licensed chapter’s text and context, it is safest to treat this as a reported ability label rather than a full explanation of Imu’s powers.
The distinction matters: a character may have an ability name or a striking effect without the story having disclosed the identity and classification of the Devil Fruit behind it. The material available here does not establish a complete list of Imu’s powers or their limits.

Which theories fit the evidence?
Any specific answer beyond the reported “The Devil’s Fruit” label is a theory. These proposals can be judged by whether they explain the unusual label, account for the effects shown in the relevant chapters, and avoid assumptions not stated in the manga.
| Theory | What it could explain | Evidence and limits |
|---|---|---|
| A uniquely named or unusual Devil Fruit | Could account for the reported “The Devil’s Fruit” wording. | The label is reported by a secondary Chapter 1179 summary, but the exact fruit name and mechanics are not established by that label alone. |
| A mythical-creature or other Zoan fruit | Could be proposed to explain a supernatural appearance or effects, if supported by relevant scenes. | No specific Zoan classification or creature model is established by the evidence summarized here. Naming one is speculation unless the licensed manga does so. |
| A unique supernatural mechanism, such as a contract-based power | Could offer a way to interpret unusual effects without assuming a familiar fruit model. | No specified contract power is established here. This proposal depends on inference beyond the reported labels. |
| Imu as the literal source of all Devil Fruits | Takes the “Devil’s Fruit” wording as a clue to the wider origin of fruits. | The wording does not prove that Imu created, controls, or is the source of all Devil Fruits; the official explainer says their origins remain mysterious. |
At present, the most cautious interpretation is also the most defensible: Imu has a power connected to the Devil Fruit terminology, while the exact identity and mechanics are still unresolved. A more specific theory may become persuasive if later chapters connect a named fruit to clearly demonstrated effects.

Is the fruit’s name actually “The Devil’s Fruit”?
That is how a secondary summary renders the Chapter 1179 label, but it should not be treated as a confirmed formal fruit name without verifying the licensed chapter’s exact wording. The official VIZ pages retrieved for this topic establish chapter dates and availability, not the chapter dialogue itself. The distinction between an evocative label and a formal name is therefore important.
Eiichiro Oda is identified by VIZ as the creator of One Piece, but the retrieved interview material does not answer what Imu’s fruit is. It cannot be used to confirm any of the proposed identities.

How to follow the reveal without mixing canon and theory
- For canon wording: read the relevant licensed chapter and note whether it names a fruit, describes a power, or uses a broader label.
- For ability claims: separate terms attached to individual effects—such as the reported “Omen”—from the fruit’s identity and full mechanics.
- For theories: label a Zoan model, mythical creature, origin story, or contract mechanism as speculation unless the manga explicitly establishes it.
- For updates: check the official VIZ listing as new chapters are released; it currently lists Chapter 1194, dated September 27, 2026.
