WWE announced in 2020 that she had begun training at its Performance Center and was “on a path to become” its first fourth-generation Superstar. She later became NXT’s General Manager. In January 2026, she announced that she would not renew her WWE contract; a possible in-ring return remains an aspiration, not a confirmed plan.
Who is Ava Raine?
Simone Garcia Johnson is the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia. She entered WWE under the ring name Ava Raine and later performed as Ava. WWE’s official bio describes her as a member of the Anoaʻi family dynasty, though the bio has not been updated to document her January 2026 departure.
Why was she called a fourth-generation Superstar?
When WWE announced on February 10, 2020 that Johnson had started training at its Performance Center in Orlando, it described her as “on a path to become” WWE’s first fourth-generation Superstar. The lineage WWE cited runs through her great-grandfather, “High Chief” Peter Maivia; her grandfather, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson; and her father, Dwayne Johnson. The phrase was WWE’s description of a prospective distinction—not an independent designation or a championship she won.
In the same announcement, Johnson said the family connection and chance to wrestle meant “the world” to her. Paul “Triple H” Levesque, then WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative, said she could carry on her family’s tradition while making her own impact. That was Levesque’s role attribution in 2020, not a description of his current title. WWE’s announcement covers her training and the family lineage behind the claim.

What did she do in NXT?
From The Schism to the authority role
Johnson first appeared on NXT television as Ava Raine in October 2022 as a mysterious presence associated with The Schism. She made her in-ring debut in April 2023, then moved into an on-screen authority role and became NXT General Manager. F4WOnline reported that her final match was at Heatwave 2023 and that she wrestled six matches in total.
As General Manager, she became a regular figure in NXT programming beyond her brief run as an in-ring competitor. WWE’s Ava bio outlines the character’s path from The Schism to the General Manager position, but its current content should not be treated as proof that she remains with the company.

Did Ava leave WWE?
Yes. Johnson said her January 27, 2026 NXT appearance was her last and that she had chosen not to renew her contract. In the statement reported by F4WOnline, she wrote: “While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also a new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava.” Pro Wrestling Dot Net also reported the departure and her final appearance on January 30, 2026.
WWE thanked her for her work as Ava, saying her “passion, dedication, and impact were felt across the entire NXT and WWE community,” and wished her well. The company’s response was reported by F4WOnline; the departure and final-appearance details were covered by Pro Wrestling Dot Net.

Could she wrestle again?
In comments on Cody Rhodes’ podcast What Do You Wanna Talk About?, reported by F4WOnline on September 16, 2026, Johnson said she hoped to return to the ring after addressing a couple of injuries. She also said she missed wrestling and had kept training while working as General Manager. That is a stated hope—not confirmation of a new WWE contract, a scheduled match, or a return with another promotion. F4WOnline’s report describes her comments.
