Was it footage of the actual shooting?
No. The reported video was a reenactment, not original footage of the Butler attack. The distinction matters: a staged performance should not be presented or captioned as evidence of what happened at the rally.
Where did the video come from?
The Times of India reported the TikTok-to-X circulation, but the original uploader and precise filming location have not been independently established. A July 2024 search-result extract from The Western Journal identified the children as boys in Uganda and attributed the clip to TikTok account bloodofficial0. Because the page could not be retrieved and that identification has not been independently corroborated, those details should be treated as unverified, not confirmed provenance.

What happened at the Butler rally?
On July 13, 2024, a shooting occurred at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. PolitiFact reported that the FBI was investigating it as an assassination attempt. One attendee was killed, two others were critically injured, and Trump was injured.
The investigation into the real attack was separate from the children’s video. At a news conference, FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek said, “A lot of things need to occur investigatively to make those determinations of what, if any, failures there were,” referring to the inquiry into possible security failures.

How did viewers react?
The Times of India described a range of reactions: some commenters joked about the simulated security, while others called the clip disturbing and questioned whether children should be reenacting violence. Those examples reflect comments selected by one outlet, not a representative measure of public opinion.
No independently verified view or repost count is established in the cited reporting, so the word “viral” should not be read as a verified measure of the clip’s reach.
