Those figures total $12 million for the two films, but they are reported salary amounts—not confirmed contract details or a complete account of her franchise earnings. A salary figure for Avatar: Fire and Ash has not been established by the sources cited here.
Reported salary by Avatar film
| Film | Release year | Reported pay | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avatar | 2009 | $4 million | Reported by TheStreet, which attributes its salary table to Yahoo!, and repeated by Realtor.com. Neither is a disclosed contract or direct confirmation from Saldaña or the studio. |
| Avatar: The Way of Water | 2022 | $8 million | Reported by TheStreet and Realtor.com. TheStreet’s table labels the film 2023, but its release year was 2022. |
| Avatar: Fire and Ash | Not stated here | Not established | Realtor.com says the amount Saldaña earned for the third film was not known. |
What the $12 million total means
Adding the two reported amounts gives $12 million for the first two films. That is arithmetic based on secondary reports, not a verified all-in total. The reports do not settle whether her compensation included bonuses, residuals, backend participation, or other payments, so the figure should not be treated as her total earnings from the franchise.

Box-office grosses are not actor pay
Guinness World Records reported that the three Avatar films had earned a collective $6,625,300,634 worldwide as of January 26, 2026. That is box-office gross, not money paid to Saldaña. Separately, TIME reported in an April 2026 profile that films featuring Saldaña had grossed more than $15.47 billion worldwide; that figure covers her filmography, not her personal earnings.
