Former West Coast Eagles defender Brad Sheppard and Ellen Taylor-Hawkins married in Broome, Western Australia, on Saturday, 27 July 2024. PerthNow reported the wedding two days later, quoting Ellen’s caption: “The best day of our lives 27.7.24”.
When and where did Brad Sheppard and Ellen Taylor-Hawkins marry?
The couple married on 27 July 2024 in Broome, with PerthNow describing the celebration as being by the sea. A more detailed feature by Julia Rau Photography identifies the specific site as Gnarangannie at Gantheaume Point and describes a marquee reception.
From beach engagement to wedding
Sheppard and Taylor-Hawkins became engaged in May 2023. PerthNow reported that the proposal took place on a beach, giving the couple a little over a year between their engagement and wedding.
Details from the celebration
Julia Rau Photography’s feature reports that 150 friends and family attended; that figure is the photographer’s account, not an independently verified guest count. The feature identifies Taylor-Hawkins’s dress as a bespoke Pallas Couture gown with a detachable skirt, and names Jessica Hawkins of Bertie Does as the planner and stylist.

Marriage to us means you are wholeheartedly committing to loving and supporting each other through both the good and hard times no matter what the future holds.”
Sheppard’s West Coast Eagles career
Sheppard retired from West Coast in December 2021 after ongoing effects from head knocks. The club’s profile lists his 2020 All-Australian selection and Chris Mainwaring Medal, along with life membership awarded in 2018. The West Australian described his career as 216 games in a 2025 follow-up.
