Set-photo coverage has revealed Milly Alcock in a blue-and-red Supergirl costume, with long blue sleeves, a gold belt, a red skirt and red boots. The outfit’s red-and-blue color blocking and combination of sleeves, belt, skirt and boots support describing it as reminiscent of the comics. “Comics-accurate,” however, is an editorial assessment of the reported images, not an official label or a confirmed statement of the designers’ intent. No named-source explanation of the costume design has been established.
How the costume connects to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
DC says the film is based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. DC also identifies Craig Gillespie as director, Ana Nogueira as screenwriter, and Alcock as Kara/Supergirl. What Milly Alcock has said about Kara’s story
In DC’s June 25, 2026 feature, Alcock described the film’s focus on Kara’s past: “We get to see [Kara’s] origin story, so we get to see all the trauma that she’s been through, and all the set of very particular unfortunate circumstances she’s been given.” The quote addresses the character’s story, not the costume design.
