An exclusive behind-the-scenes clip offers a glimpse of the series’ David-and-Goliath battle and its production design; separately, Prime Video’s premiere announcement was accompanied by eight first-look photos.
What the exclusive first look shows
The Christian Post’s exclusive clip report describes battle footage featuring David and Goliath, along with glimpses of the show’s sets and costumes. Director Jon Erwin said the team wanted to develop the world of the story through its costume design, sets and overall look, and described the production as practical and organic. Those are the filmmakers’ stated aims, not an independent assessment of historical or biblical accuracy. The Christian Post’s clip report covers that behind-the-scenes material.
The clip is distinct from the eight first-look photos TV Guide says accompanied Prime Video’s premiere announcement. The photos and the exclusive behind-the-scenes footage are separate materials, not one combined release. TV Guide’s series coverage describes the photo release.
What House of David is about
Prime Video presents the series as a drama following David’s journey toward becoming king while Saul’s authority declines. It is a dramatization, not a documentary. The Season 1 guide lists eight episodes, with the final two titled “David and Goliath – Part 1” and “David and Goliath – Part 2”; their descriptions set up the approaching confrontation and its stakes. The official listing identifies the series as TV-14 and gives February 26, 2025, as the date for the first Season 1 episode. See the Prime Video series and episode guide.

The story’s biblical source provides a point of comparison for viewers interested in how the adaptation handles David and Goliath, but the creators’ stated commitment to honoring the text does not establish that the series is a historically or textually exact account. Erwin and co-director Jon Gunn described their goals as getting the story right while making it entertaining and human; those are their intentions, not a verdict on the finished show.
Who stars in the series, and what its creators say
The listed cast includes Michael Iskander as David, Ali Suliman as King Saul, Stephen Lang as Samuel and Martyn Ford as Goliath. Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn are executive producers and co-directors. In a February 2025 Los Angeles Times interview, Gunn said the team was not trying to make “a religious show,” but a compelling story about people living through a particular moment. Erwin described its central tension as “a war of houses.” These comments frame the producers’ approach; they do not speak for every viewer or establish audience response.
